About

Hola! Hello!

My name is Grace and this blog is a documentation of a new start and a new life for me in South America. I graduated from college in May ’10 with a degree in English and a minor in Hispanic Studies. During college I studied abroad for four months in Valladolid, Spain which was an incredible experience. After college, I moved home to Seattle and did a handful of unpaid writing internships (with a strong focus on food related topics) which I loved. I did a six month editorial internship for Seattle magazine, did a little food writing for Seattlest, and did about a month’s worth of food blogging for Foodista. However, I could see the future ahead was a rocky one, and decided I needed a change from the path I was currently headed on. So, instead of just getting a tattoo, or dying my hair, I decided to do the most extreme thing I could think of: book a one way ticket to Santiago, Chile with no job or apartment.

As a writer and food enthusiast, I hope to use this blog to document my experiences con la cultura, la comida, y la gente aqui en Chile y America del Sur. The intent is to document experiences and new foods I encounter along the way and to share my life here in Santiago with all of you.

You can also follow my journey through my weekly column over at the The Santiago Times: Sleepless in Santiago
